Families, businesses, motorists and municipal officials
in suburban and residential communities across
Pennsylvania are finding out what many farmers, forest
landowners and ecologists already knew--Overabundant
deer are a serious, expensive and persistent problem.
The Ecosystem Management Project has developed a 7-page
booklet entitled “Deer, Communities & Quality of Life”
that examines Lyme disease, impact on home gardening and
landscaping, highway safety and other issues surrounding
Pennsylvania’s growing urban deer problem. Impacts on
forest health and other wildlife are also discussed. The
publication concludes with contact information readers
can use to communicate their needs and ideas regarding
deer to the state’s policy makers. |
